THE WAY OF THE TRUE CROSS

The Camino de la Vera Cruz is a historic pilgrimage route that connects various points in Spain with the holy city of Caravaca de la Cruz, one of the five holy cities of the Christian world. This route, which dates back to the 13th century, is traveled by thousands of pilgrims every year, attracted by its deep spirituality, the beauty of its landscapes and the cultural richness of the regions it passes through.

The pilgrimage to Caravaca de la Cruz is a unique experience that combines history, nature and devotion. Along the route, pilgrims can visit numerous historic monuments, churches and charming villages, each with its own character and traditions. The route offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture, enjoy the hospitality of its people and experience the serenity of its landscapes.

Caravaca de la Cruz, the final destination of this route, is known for its impressive basilica-sanctuary that houses the relic of the True Cross. The city comes to life especially during the Jubilee Year, when it receives a large influx of pilgrims from all over the world. In addition to its religious importance, Caravaca offers a rich cultural and gastronomic offering that delights all its visitors.

The Camino de la Vera Cruz is not only a pilgrimage route, but also an opportunity for personal growth and reflection. Pilgrims can enjoy the tranquility of the natural environment, walk along paths lined with native flora and discover the historical and cultural legacy that each stop offers. It is a transformative experience that leaves an indelible mark on those who walk it.

Walk the Path Your Way

The Camino de la Vera Cruz offers two main routes, adapted to the preferences of each pilgrim: on foot or by bicycle. Each option provides a unique experience, allowing you to connect with the route and its surroundings in a different way.

Walking

Walking the Camino allows you a more intimate connection with your surroundings, offering you the opportunity to stop and appreciate every detail of the landscape and points of interest along the route. It is a way to travel slowly, reflect and connect with other pilgrims along the way. Walking at your own pace allows you to fully enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the path.

The complete route of the Camino de la Vera Cruz on foot usually takes between 20 and 25 days, depending on the starting point and the pace of each pilgrim. It is an intense and rewarding experience that allows a deep immersion in the spirituality and nature of the path.

By Bike

For cycling enthusiasts, the Camino de la Vera Cruz offers adapted routes that allow you to cover more distance in less time, enjoying the diversity of landscapes and the adventure of riding along rural paths and roads. Mountain bikes are ideal for this experience, providing the flexibility to explore both gentle and more challenging terrain.

Cycling the Camino usually takes between 7 and 10 days, allowing cyclists to enjoy the route at a more dynamic pace. This option is perfect for those who want to experience the Camino but have less time.
